Message from Rod Sala
With my alcohol school long since over, I still visit the Port of Hope from time to time. Now that my sister of the heart is back, she had a burning circle. This is where wed addicts tell our stories, offer our pains, try to heal so we don’t make the same mistakes again. The healing power is of a circle is endless, nothing short of a miracle. At this particular circle, I met young Veteran. His life nearly completely destroyed, in trouble with the law, and down at heart. This young MAN, has been to Iraq. A proud Marine and in deep sorrow for what he swore and oath to do. Though in my short tour in Viet NAM, at sea I saw nothing like he described. I did my best to comfort and stand beside him, I don’t know if I succeeded. I realized after that encounter with this young MAN, my sons are older by the way. It isn’t what the enemy can do, one can see them, you can fight them, it is what happens in your mind and heart when you come home. It is the war inside that kills. I now understand my Dad’s grief and many others. This is the cost of our freedoms, ability to speak what eve we please. There is no priectag to put on this young MANS pain. To the veterans that read this, to this young MAN and all others like him, past, present and the future. Pray for them and May GOD BLESS EVERY ONE OF THEM. I look forward to seeing him again. I ask you all to Pray and when you meet a military person, thank them and tell them how proud you are of them. These and all military personnel. God Bless you and yours, God bless our military, and God Bless the United States of America, the land of the Free. Rod.
